Mimi + Jason met by total chance at SXSW - just waiting in line. She is Canadian. He’s a Texan. Their meet-cute feels a little out of this world [do people really meet IRL anymore?!] - so why wouldn’t their celebration reflect that? It was a space, disco cowboy playground hosted on a Ghost Town in Austin, TX. We charted decked out school buses that pulled up to J. Lorraine Ghost Town and guests were greeted by a real-life cowboy. The ceremony was a mix of silly and sentimental with a couple singing a duet and concluding the ceremony with rocket launch and a kiss. Then, the party really got started. What greeted their guests was a buffet of not-your-average-wedding delights: disco ball runners lined the tables, the karaoke room was poppin' all night long, Moon Puppies ran the play-pretend bank, an Austin based performance artist group took the stage, two on-site buildings were transformed into a psychedelic wonderland, an ax thrower entertained, and Guardians of the Galaxy took over the big outdoor movie screen. Need we say more?! It was a total love-filled party fit for two rebels. Because what is marriage really - except a wonderfully wacky journey into the unknown?
